Enterprise Research Campus Update #124 (Week of April 27, 2026)

The Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project Phase A is mostly complete with some finish, roadway, hardscaping and landscaping work continuing. 

Western Avenue

  • The milling and paving of Western Avenue will take place on two consecutive Fridays and Saturdays, beginning with milling this Friday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Two-way traffic will be maintained with police direction while crews work on one lane at a time. Access will be available with some interruptions to roadway and lot entrances with work taking place from in front of National Resilience (just west of One Western Avenue Drive)  to just east of Hague Street.
  • Milling will begin east to west on Friday, April 24 in front of Harvard Business School and west to east adjacent to the ERC on Saturday, April 25.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.  The eastbound bike lane in front of the ERC will be open throughout.
  • The roadway surface will be rough next week while crews adjust castings and prepare for paving.
  • Paving and temporary striping on the same section of Western Ave is planned on Friday, May 1. and Saturday, May 2, weather permitting. Work will begin east to west adjacent to the ERC on Friday, May 1 and west to east in front of Harvard Business School on Saturday, May 2.
  • Curbing and concrete prep work will continue to take place on either side of the Kresge Way entrance and on both the north and south side of Western Avenue at the crosswalk near Trotting Avenue and at the crosswalk in front of National Resilience.  Pedestrian shifts around the work zone will be in place.
  • Other miscellaneous preparation work for milling and paving may take place.
  • Eversource crews plan to pull cable and do other electrical work on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28.
  • Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians should use caution for the next week on Western Avenue.

Streetscape

  • Crews will be prepping for replacing porous pavement at Milestone Street and Trotting Avenue in May.
  • Planting and irrigation work will continue.

Greenway (now Allston Way)

  • Water feature and other paver work is underway.
  • Miscellaneous landscape and planting work continues with sod installation planned to start in May.
