Enterprise Research Campus Update #98 (Week of July 7, 2025)

All project sites will be closed on Friday, July 4.

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, July 5, exterior louvers and lighting will be installed at the high-rise residential building with several boom lifts operating. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work is ongoing in all three buildings.
  • On Sunday, July 6, twelve workers will be inside the midrise and high-rise building elevator shafts. Eight workers will be onsite to conduct cleaning operations in the mid-rise building. Six workers will be in the mid-rise installing tile.

Weekday/Night Activities

  • Preparation is underway for a temporary certificate of occupancy this week in the midrise residential building
  • Fire standpipe testing will take place on Tuesday 5 a.m. and will result in water flowing into nearby drains at Western Avenue and inside the site.
  • Crews are scheduled to work in the evenings at the high-rise, exterior façade from 3 to 11 p.m. on swing staging with portable light towers pointed at the building.
  • Exterior curtainwall installation will take place on the highrise with temporary lighting into the evening activity from 3 to 11 p.m.
  • Paver activities and possible interior highrise work will occur from 11 p.m. – 7 a.m.
  • Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the highrise building.
  • At the high rise, the hoist has been removed and infill work is underway.
  • Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevator installation activity continues.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Flooring and painting are underway.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • No work is planned this weekend.

Weekday Activities

  • A crane will be on site to install infill curtainwall where the hoist was located.
  • The loading dock demolition is finishing.
  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed and inspected.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Structural soil backfill, low voltage, concrete pad and granite curb install will take place on the east side of the buildings.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom install are underway.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Work includes flooring, drywall, elevator and miscellaneous interior work including MEP activity on Saturday, July 5.
  • On Sunday, July 6, twelve roofers will be working.

Weekday/Night Activities

  • A small crew is scheduled to work on the facade from 3 to 11 p.m. using lifts.
  • Wood trim panels and other façade installation continue.
  • Duct bank excavation and install is occurring.
  • Framing and drywall continue.
  • Elevator work is underway.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Flooring work continues.
  • Small concrete placements will take place.
  • Bathroom work continues.
  • Painting is underway.
  • Connection work will occur.

Evening Thermal Work

  • Underground backfilling work and final connection work to the Treehouse may take place from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Greenway

Weekday Activities

  • Landscaping crews continue prepping for hardscape.
  • Light pole bases are being installed.
  • Prep and utility work is underway for water features.
  • Outcropping (boulder) install continues.

Streetscape

Weekday/Night Activities

  • Daytime work includes sidewalks, curbing, paver install near the buildings. Piping will begin to be installed along Milestone St.
  • Evening crews will be prepping for the bike lane, curbing, railings, trash receptacles from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. All work will be contained within the site.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.
  • A pedestrian pathway from the Hague Street lot to the street is being completed.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource electrical cabling will be taking place in the future along Western Avenue. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly on Thursday, July 10, at 3 p.m.
