Enterprise Research Campus Update #95 (Week of June 16, 2025)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 14, the site will have several activities underway, weather permitting. Exterior green panel installation and activity will take place on the midrise and high-rise residential buildings with several boom lifts operating including the mid-rise hoist infill area. Paver work will be taking place on the east and south decks.  Elevator and miscellaneous interior work will occur in all three buildings.
  • On Sunday, June 15, six workers will be inside the hotel and high-rise building elevator shafts. Six electricians will be working inside the hotel. Another six workers will be cleaning inside the midrise.

Weekday/Night Activities

  • Crews are scheduled to work at the midrise off Trotting Avenue, on the first and second floor exterior façade from 3 to 11 p.m. Boom and scissor lifts and light towers pointed at the building will be operational.
  • Night crews will be installing conduit and backfilling at the loading dock using an excavator and truck from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Eversource will be finishing permanent power.
  • Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the residential buildings.
  • At the midrise and high rise, the hoists have been removed and infill work is underway.
  • Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other concrete operations continue.
  • Some roofing activities continue.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Flooring and painting is underway.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 14, exterior work on the first floor and roofing activity, weather permitting, will be underway. Interior drywall, elevator install and MEP work in the penthouse as well as general clean-up activities will occur. A roofing delivery and drywall delivery is expected.
  • No work is planned for Sunday, June 15.

Weekday Activities

  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed and inspected.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Structural soil backfill low voltage and irrigation install will take place on the east side of the buildings.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom install are underway.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Work includes roofing installation (weather permitting), façade work, flooring, drywall and miscellaneous interior work including MEP work on Saturday, June 14. A drywall delivery will take place in the morning.
  • On Sunday, June 15, approximately six roofers will be working with a few laborers cleaning up the site. On the interior, four electricians will be working, and eight carpenters will be installing drywall.

Weekday/night Activities

  • A small crew is scheduled to work on the facade from 3 to 11 p.m. using lifts.
  • A crane is expected for a duct work delivery at the end of the week.
  • Wood trim panels and other façade installation continue.
  • Duct bank excavation and install is occurring.
  • Framing and drywall continue.
  • Elevator work is underway.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Flooring work continues.
  • Small concrete placements will take place.
  • Bathroom work continues.

Evening Thermal Work

  • Underground water pipe backfilling work will continue on weeknights in two areas near the Treehouse and one between the National Resilience Drive and Milestone Street from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Greenway

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 14 a crew will be planting trees.

Weekday Activities

  • Landscaping crews continue prepping for hardscape and tree planting.
  • Trees continue to be planted.
  • Prep and utility work is underway for water features.
  • Outcropping (boulder) installation continues.

Streetscape

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 14, road curbing and paver installation will be underway along Trotting Avenue. All work will be contained within the site.

Weekday/night Activities

  • Daytime work includes curbing, paver install on Trotting Avenue near the buildings.
  • Night crews will be installing conduit and structural soil at the residential/hotel loading dock on Trotting Avenue using an excavator and truck from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Evening Fiberoptic Manhole Work

  • Comcast will be continuing daytime fiber-optic work at manholes inside the ERC site.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource electrical cabling will be taking place in the future along Western Avenue. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  All projects will be permitted to work on Juneteenth, Thursday, June 19.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly on Fridays, June 13 and 20, at 3 p.m.
