Enterprise Research Campus Update #94 (Week of June 9, 2025)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 7, the site will have several activities underway, weather permitting. Exterior green panel installation and activity will take place on the midrise and high-rise residential buildings with several boom lifts operating including the mid-rise hoist infill area. A crane will be operating to the hotel curtainwall former hoist area. Paver work will be taking place on the east and south decks.  Elevator and miscellaneous interior work in all three buildings.
  • On Sunday, June 8, six workers will be inside the hotel and high-rise building elevator shafts. Fifteen drywallers will be working at the elevator lobbies. Six plumbers and electricians will be working inside the buildings. Installation of pavers on the east and south decks will be done by a dozen workers. The former hoist area will be infilled with curtainwall by a dozen workers using a crane.

Weekday/Night Activities

  • Crews are scheduled to work at the midrise off Trotting Avenue, on the first and second floor exterior façade from 3 to 11 p.m. Boom and scissor lifts and light towers pointed at the building will be operational.
  • Night crews will be pre-clearing at the loading dock using an excavator and truck from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Eversource will working in Western and Trotting manholes on Monday and Wednesday to complete on site permanent power connections.
  • Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the residential buildings.
  • At the midrise and high rise, the hoists have been removed, and infill work is underway.
  • Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
  • A crane is operating for infilling the hotel curtainwall former hoist area.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other concrete operations continue.
  • Some roofing activities continue.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Flooring and painting is underway.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 7, exterior work on the first floor and roofing activity, weather permitting, will be underway. Interior drywall, elevator install and MEP work in the penthouse as well as general clean-up activities will occur.
  • On Sunday, June 8, six workers will be in the elevator shafts and 12 to 15 workers may be doing roofing activity.

Weekday Activities

  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed and inspected.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Excavation for irrigation/landscaping work will continue on the east side of the buildings.
  • Framing, drywall and bathroom install are underway.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Work includes roofing install (weather permitting) with a crane operating, façade work, flooring, dry-wall and miscellaneous interior work on Saturday, June 7. A dry-wall delivery will take place in the morning.
  • On Sunday, June 8, approximately six roofers will be working with a couple of laborers cleaning up the site. On the interior, three electricians will be working, and eight carpenters will be installing dry wall.

Weekday/Night Activities

  • A small crew is scheduled to work installing facade clips and caulking from 3 to 11 p.m. using lifts.
  • Cranes are assisting with roof and terrace activities.
  • Skylight framing is underway on the roof.
  • Wood trim panels and other façade installation continue.
  • Foundation work is underway for the north side bridge area.
  • Duct bank work continues.
  • Framing and drywall continue.
  • Elevator work continues.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Flooring work continues.
  • Small concrete placements will take place.
  • Bathroom work has begun.

Evening Thermal Work

  • Underground water pipe investigative, repair and testing work will continue on weeknights in two areas near the Treehouse for approximately two weeks from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Greenway

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 7 a crew will be working on the shared use path.

Weekday Activities

  • Landscaping crews continue prepping for hardscape and tree planting.
  • Trees continue to be planted.
  • Prep and utility work is underway for water features.
  • Outcropping (boulder)install continues.

Streetscape

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, June 7, road curbing installation will be underway along Trotting Avenue. All work will be contained within the site.

Weekday/night Activities

  • Work and backfilling in the trench will take place on Trotting Avenue near the buildings.
  • Night crews will be pre-clearing at the residential/hotel loading dock on Trotting Avenue using an excavator and truck from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Evening Fiberoptic Manhole Work

  • Comcast will be continuing daytime fiber-optic work at manholes inside the ERC site.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource electrical cabling will be taking place in the future along Western Avenue. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly on Thursday, June 12 at 3 p.m.
