Enterprise Research Campus Update #88 (Week of April 28, 2025)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, April 26, exterior green panel installation and activity (weather dependent) may take place on the midrise and high-rise residential buildings with several boom lifts operating including the infill hoist area. Lintel work at the hotel may take place using boom lifts if weather permits. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work with operational hoists at all three buildings are planned.
  • On Sunday, April 27, a crew of five will be installing louvers on boom lifts in the hoist area on the east side of the high-rise building. A dozen workers will be working inside the elevator shafts in the hotel and high-rise buildings. Hoists will be operational.

Weekday Activities

  • Eversource may be on site making connections between their Trotting Avenue manhole and the building.
  • Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the residential buildings.
  • The hotel’s hoist will begin to be removed next week.  A crane will be operating onsite for this work.
  • Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing and bathroom/kitchen installations are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Flooring and other finish fit-out activity is underway.
  • Temporary heaters are being removed.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, April 26 exterior work will include first floor boom lift work (weather permitting), elevator and miscellaneous interior work as well as general clean-up activities.

Weekday Activities

  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Framing and bathroom/kitchen install are underway
  • Spray-on insulation work will take place.
  • Flooring is being installed.
  • Temporary heaters are being disconnected.

Greenway

  • Landscaping crews continue prepping for hardscape and tree planting.
  • Trees are being delivered and planted.
  • Water feature piping will be installed.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Work includes façade (weather dependent) and dry-wall installation as well as roofing activity on Saturday, April 26.  A dry-wall delivery will take place.

Weekday Activities

  • Façade frame and glass installation continues during the week using boom lifts.
  • Roofing and terrace activities are underway.
  • Framing and drywall continues.
  • Elevator work has begun.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Sub-flooring work continues
  • Small concrete placements will take place.

Streetscape

  • Sub-grade pre-clearing and excavation is underway surrounding the buildings on Trotting Avenue, Axle Way and Milestone Street.

Western Ave. Roadway Work

  • At nighttime next week, crews will black out and restripe lines on Western Avenue in front of the ERC.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Fiber Optic Communications Installation

  • Fiber optic cable will be installed for Crown Castle at night on Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6 into Wednesday, May 7 from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Crews will be accessing manholes throughout the ERC site and at Western Avenue.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue. Crews are near Travis Street. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on hotel, lab and one residential building.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday afternoon.
