Enterprise Research Campus Update #86 (Week of April 14, 2025)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, April 12, removal of concrete forms and materials will be underway at the loading dock off Trotting Avenue. Weather permitting, exterior green panel installation and activity will take place on the midrise and high-rise residential buildings with several boom lifts operating including the infill hoist area. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work with operational hoists at all three buildings are planned.
  • On Sunday, April 13 a crew of 12 will be completing removing forms and other concrete operation materials at the loading dock below the podium between the hotel and mid-rise. Additionally, 12 workers will be active in the high-rise and mid-rise elevator shafts. Hoists will be operational.

Weekday Activities

  • Eversource may be on site making connections between their Trotting Avenue manhole and the building.
  • Exterior wall sheathing, panel clips and green exterior panels are being installed on the residential buildings.
  • A suspended scaffolding deck has been removed from the underside of the cantilevered section at the hotel.
  • At the midrise the hoist has been removed and infill work is underway.
  • Ground floor work is underway on all three buildings, including soffit panel installation using lifts at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Temporary heaters are being removed.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, April 12 exterior work will include miscellaneous roofing (weather permitting), interior drywall elevator install and MEP work in the penthouse as well as general clean-up activities.
  • On Sunday, April 13 a crew of six will be working in the east building elevator shaft.

Weekday Activities

  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 soffit and exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Framing and bathroom install are underway
  • Temporary heaters are being disconnected.

Greenway

  • Light pole base work will take place.
  • Duct piping excavation, installation and backfilling will continue.
  • Landscaping crews continue prepping for hardscape and tree planting.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Work includes façade (weather permitting), electrical, and dry-wall installation on Saturday, April 12.  A dry-wall delivery is expected.

Weekday Activities

  • Façade frame and glass installation continues during the week using boom lifts.
  • Roofing and terrace activities are underway.
  • Framing and drywall continues.
  • Elevator work has begun.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Sub-flooring work continues.

Streetscape

  • Duct bank installation and road work has begun.

Western Ave. Roadway Work

  • On Saturday, April 12, crews will be patching Western Avenue.  Two-way traffic will be maintained. A police detail will be directing traffic, cyclists and pedestrians.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue. Crews are near Travis Street. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly Thursday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m.
