Enterprise Research Campus Update #82 (Week of March 17, 2025)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, March 15, exterior panel installation will take place on the midrise residential building with several boom lifts operating. The high rise will continue to be prepped for panel install and have roofing activity underway. Crews will be applying hot mix to the area beyond the connector nearer to the labs. The scaffolding will be reassembled at the hotel loading dock with repositioning work at the suspended deck.  Elevator and miscellaneous interior work with operational hoists is planned.
  • On Sunday, March 16, six workers in the high-rise elevator shaft will be working onsite. If the weather permits, a dozen workers on the roof of the high rise will be closing up openings and installing roofing. Hoists will be operational.

Weekday Activities

  • Exterior wall sheathing and panel clips are being installed on the high-rise building, and green exterior panels are being installed on the midrise building.
  • A suspended scaffolding deck, like under a bridge is set up, on the underside of the cantilever section at the hotel.
  • Storefront installation is underway on the ground floors.
  • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.
  • Eversource off-hours manhole cabling work inside the site may take place.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

Weekend Activities

  • On Saturday, March 15, boom lifts will be operating at level one. Roofing activities will be taking place on the east and west buildings. Interior drywall framing, mechanical and elevator work will be underway as well as general clean-up activities.

Weekday Activities

  • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
  • Level 1 exterior work is underway.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Framing and bathroom install are underway
  • Temporary heaters are operational.

Greenway

Weekend Activities

  • Crews will be removing soil used on a temporary access road.

Weekday Activities

  • Area drains will be installed.
  • Light pole base work will take place.
  • Duct piping excavation, installation and backfilling will occur.

Treehouse Conference Center

Weekend Activities

  • Façade work will take place on Saturday, March 15.

Weekday Activities

  • Façade frame and glass installation continues during the week using boom lifts.
  • Roofing and terrace activities are underway.
  • Concrete core extension continues.
  • Framing is underway.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.
  • Plans are underway for sewar tie-in work on Western Ave.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue. Crews are near Travis Street. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • Snow, water and ice removal and cleanup will take place as needed.
  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly Thursday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m.
