Enterprise Research Campus Update #81 (Week of March 10, 2025)

Construction Updates

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

  • Weekend Activities
    • On Saturday, March 8, depending on the wind forecast, roofing, exterior panel installation and swing stage relocation may take place on the high rise with several boom lifts operating. Elevator and miscellaneous interior work with hoists operational are planned. Also additional soil testing will be underway on Trotting Avenue.
    • On Sunday, March 9, nine workers in the interior midrise and high-rise elevator shafts will be onsite. Also a dozen workers on the roof of the high rise will be closing up openings and installing roofing. Hoists will be operational.

    Weekday Activities

    • Exterior wall sheathing is being installed on the high-rise building, and green exterior panels are being installed on the midrise building.
    • A suspended scaffolding deck, like under a bridge is set up, on the underside of the cantilever section at the hotel.
    • Storefront installation is underway on the ground floors.
    • Mast climber scaffolding and swing staging are set up on the high-rise building.
    • Elevators are being installed.
    • Other smaller concrete operations continue.
    • Roofing activities are underway.
    • MEP work is ongoing.
    • Framing and bathroom installation are taking place inside the buildings.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

  • Weekend Activities
    • On Saturday, March 8, the crane will be loading piping. Interior drywall framing, mechanical and elevator work will be underway as well as general clean-up activities.

    Weekday Activities

    • Installation of exterior curtain-wall panels will take place.
    • The crane will be placing generators and chillers intermittently.
    • Boom lifts are active around the perimeter of the buildings.
    • Level 1 exterior work is underway.
    • Smaller concrete operations continue.
    • Roof activities are underway.
    • Elevators are being installed.
    • MEP work is ongoing.
    • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
    • Masonry work continues.
    • Framing and bathroom install are underway
    • Temporary heaters are operational.

Greenway

  • Backfilling continues with the site leveling off
  • Light pole work may begin.
  • Duct piping installation will take place later in the week.

Treehouse Conference Center

  • Weekend Activities
    • Façade work will take place on Saturday, March 8.

    Weekday Activities

    • Façade frame and glass installation continues during the week using boom lifts.
    • Roofing and terrace activities are underway.
    • Concrete core extension continues.
    • On Tuesday, March 11, a crane will be on the south side of the building to load piping
    • ·Framing is underway.
    • MEP activities are ongoing.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue. Crews are near Travis Street. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • Snow, water and ice removal and cleanup will take place as needed.
  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly Thursday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m.
