Enterprise Research Campus Update #73 (Week of January 6, 2025)

Construction Updates

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

  • On Saturday, January 4, boom lifts will be set up on Trotting Avenue, south side of the midrise and up on podium deck with exterior wall and roofing activity underway. Miscellaneous interior work with hoists operational is planned.
  • Windows and panels are also being installed during the week on the residential buildings.
  • Exterior panel and window installation are ongoing at the hotel.
  • A suspended scaffolding deck, like under a bridge is set up, on the underside of the cantilever section at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding is set up and continues to be installed in sections on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing is taking place inside the buildings.
  • Temporary heaters are operating.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

  • On Saturday, January 4, curtain-wall panels will be installed using the tower crane on the east building. A drywall delivery will take place, roofing, miscellaneous interior work and general cleanup will be underway.
  • Exterior curtain-wall panels are being installed during the week.
  • The site’s tower crane is operational. It is designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Temporary heaters are operational.

Greenway

  • Drainage, recharge system and pipe installation are underway.
  • Backfilling continues.

Treehouse Conference Center

  • Mass timber activities will take place on Saturday, January 4. A crane will be in operation.
  • Mass timber deliveries, activities and installation of the roof continue with a crane operating during the week.
  • Façade frame installation will begin using boom lifts.
  • MEP activities are ongoing.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue after hours, typically from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • Snow and ice removal and cleanup will take place as needed.
  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday work is scheduled to take place starting at 7 a.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • A drone is scheduled to fly Thursday, January 9 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
