Enterprise Research Campus Update #69 (Week of December 9, 2024)

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

  • On Saturday, December 7, boom lifts will be set up on Trotting Avenue with exterior wall and roofing activity underway. Miscellaneous interior work with hoists operational is planned.
  • Windows, exterior sheathing, framing and waterproofing are also being installed during the week on the residential buildings.
  • Exterior panel installation is ongoing at the hotel.
  • A suspended scaffolding deck like under a bridge is set up on the underside of the cantilever section at the hotel.
  • Mast climber scaffolding will be installed on the high-rise building.
  • Elevators are being installed.
  • Other smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roofing activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Framing is taking place in certain areas of the building.
  • Temporary heaters are being set up.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

  • On Saturday, December 7, piping deliveries will occur with the tower crane operational. Eversource and their equipment will be at ground level. Exterior façade work and general cleanup will also be underway.
  • State police-escorted oversize trucks will deliver air handlers on Monday, December 9, Tuesday, December 10, Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12 at 5 a.m. The tower crane will be used to unload the trucks after 7 a.m.
  • The site’s tower crane is operational. It is designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind.
  • Exterior curtain-wall panels are being installed during the week.
  • Smaller concrete operations continue.
  • Roof activities are underway.
  • MEP work is ongoing.
  • Mechanical penthouse activities continue.
  • Masonry work continues.
  • Temporary heaters are being set up.

Greenway

  • Drainage structures and pipe installation are underway.
  • Concrete activity for the rainwater storage tank will continue.
  • Backfilling continues.

Treehouse Conference Center

  • Removal of scaffolding will take place on Saturday, December 7. A crane will be in operation.
  • Mass timber deliveries, activities and installation of the mezzanine decks and roof beams will be underway with a crane operating during the week.
  • MEP activities and miscellaneous utilities are ongoing.

Waterline Installation on Western Ave.

  • Relocation of the fence line back closer to Western Avenue has begun with line striping to follow on either Friday or Tuesday nights, November 29 or December 3.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.

Eversource Conduit Project

  • Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue after hours, typically from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.

General

  • The projects work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays/off hours as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday work is scheduled to take place starting at 7 a.m.
  • Hoists (exterior construction elevators) are operating on the residential, hotel and lab buildings.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Weekly flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning.
    • Drones will be flying at 8 a.m. on Friday, December 6 and Tuesday, December 10 from 8 a.m. to noon.
