As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.
Residential/Hotel
- Tower crane #2 will be dismantled and removed from the site this weekend requiring after hours work and extra temporary lighting.
- The arrival and assembly of a large crane with another assist crane will take place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Six to seven trailers of assist crane parts will arrive.
- On Saturday, September 21, starting at 5:30 a.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. approximately 18 truckloads of crane parts will be removed from the site, entering at the Hague Street gate and exiting through the Milestone Street gate.
- On Sunday, September 22, starting at 5:30 a.m. and continuing to 8 p.m. finishing the tower crane removal activities will take place, including disassembly and removal of the large crane and its assist crane.
- On Saturday, September 21, crews will also be installing windows at the mid-rise residential building.
- A small crew plans to work from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. next week to install scaffolding to expand the hotel hoist to the upper floors.
- Concrete decking at the hotel is finishing up.
- Other smaller concrete operations continue.
- The high-rise building has topped off at level 18.
- The mid-rise residential building has topped off at their mechanical penthouse at level 9.
- The hotel, high rise and mid rise hoists are operational.
- Windows, exterior sheathing, framing and waterproofing are being installed on the residential buildings.
- Exterior curtain-wall panels are being installed at the hotel.
- MEP work is ongoing.
Laboratory and Office Buildings
- State police-escorted oversize trucks will deliver HVAC ducts to the east building on Saturday, September 21. The tower crane will be used to unload the trucks.
- A small crew plans to work in the later part of the day next week to extend the hoist to the upper floors.
- Exterior curtain-wall panels are being installed on the west building.
- Concrete operations continue with deck placements on the upper floors on the east building.
- The two hoist cars are operational.
- Both east and west buildings structural steel have topped off.
- Roofing activities are underway.
- Spray-on fireproofing continues.
- MEP work is ongoing.
Greenway
- Bulk excavation continues with intermodals delivering material for rail transport to the Beacon Yard through the haul road, all inside the site.
- Backfilling, involving trucks of clean soil entering the site, is underway.
Treehouse Conference Center
- Carpenters will be removing formwork on Saturday, September 21.
- A water recharge system is being installed inside the site.
- MEP activities continue on level one.
- Preparation for façade installation is underway.
Waterline Installation on Western Ave.
- The ERC team is working with the City, Boston Water and Sewer and Harvard to replace a 12-inch waterline with a larger 16-inch waterline from Hague to Milestone streets on Western Avenue.
- The waterline replacement takes place Monday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and began in early September.
- Paving occurred on Thursday, September 19.
- During the nighttime work, pedestrians will shift to the Harvard Business School side of the road and cyclists will share the road.
Building Mock-Ups
- Building mockups are on the corner of Hague and Rotterdam Streets.
Eversource Conduit Project
- Eversource duct bank installation by G. Greene Construction is underway along Western Avenue after hours, typically from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This public utility work is not under the supervision of ERC.
Milestone Thermals
- Duct bank installation will continue at the Greenway.
General
- The site’s three tower cranes have been erected and are operational. They are designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind.
- The projects’ work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday work is scheduled to take place starting at 7 a.m.
- Intermittent use of power trowels for concrete finishing and layout for concrete placement may take place after 6 p.m.
- Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
- Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
- Flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning alternating weekly.
- No drone flight is scheduled next week.
