Enterprise Research Campus Update #48 (Week of July 8, 2024)

All sites will not be working on Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, 2024

As the Enterprise Research Campus (ERC) project continues, we will provide project notifications that outline upcoming and impactful activities, including a map of the area for reference.

Residential/Hotel

  • This Saturday, July 6, starting at 7 a.m., a tower crane will be assisting hotel steel installation and detailing. Mid-rise and high-rise exterior wall sheathing will be installed.
  • Concrete decking and other operations continue.
  • Hotel steel installation has topped off at level 17 and continues with work on the periscope, the cantilevered section of the building.
  • The mid-rise residential building has topped off at their mechanical penthouse at level 9.
  • The hoists (exterior construction elevators) and loading docks are being installed. The mid-rise hoist will be operational after inspections and approvals next week.
  • Work is progressing to level 14 of the high-rise building.
  • MEP work is ongoing.

Laboratory and Office Buildings

  • Concrete operations continue with deck placements.
  • Structural steel continues to be delivered and installed on the east building with the west building topping off next week.
  • The east building steel is up to level 7, and the west building is beyond level 7, finishing the second mechanical penthouse.
  • Duct bank installation will be underway on the perimeter of the site.

Greenway

  • This section of the site is currently being used for laydown space.

Treehouse Conference Center

  • A crew will be backfilling this Saturday, July 6 starting at 7 a.m.
  • Mass timber detailing is underway with the next delivery planned for Friday, July 12.
  • Scaffolding removal and core connection work will be underway.
  • Stairwell concrete work will take place.

Building Mock-Ups

  • Punchlist work and other adjustments are intermittent on all five mockups.

General

  • The site’s four tower cranes have been erected and are operational. They are designed to move or “weathervane” in the wind.
  • The projects’ work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays as permitted by the City of Boston from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Intermittent use of power trowels for concrete finishing and layout for concrete placement may take place after 6 p.m.
  • Drones will be in use bi-weekly to monitor construction progress on site.
    • Drones will be operated by licensed pilots in accordance with Harvard University and the City of Boston regulations.
    • Flights are weather dependent and are scheduled one weekday morning alternating weekly.
    • A drone flight will take place on Thursday, July 11 at 7 a.m.
